Pep Guardiola feels Manchester City already have David Silva’s replacement in the form of Phil Foden.

Before the start of the campaign, David Silva announced that he was stepping into his final season with Manchester City and will leave the club once his contract runs out.

David Silva has had a glorious career at the Etihad so far. He has won four Premier League titles along with numerous other domestic cups during his stint.

But Pep Guardiola is not agitated by David Silva’s imminent departure. Guardiola, who usually prefers big-money signings, has laid his trust in Phil Foden. Guardiola refused to sign a replacement for the Spaniard hinting that he will allow Foden to take up Silva’s role.

“Phil is an incredible player but he still has things to improve,” Guardiola told Sky Sports.

“Sometimes it takes time to understand exactly what he has to do, sometimes you have to be patient. But David is going to leave this season and we are not going to buy any player in his position because we have Phil.

“We trust Phil,” Guardiola emphasized.

“If we didn’t believe in him we might go to the market to replace David, but we have Phil.”
