Pep Guardiola is delighted to have young talents at his disposal in the Manchester City squad.
Pep Guardiola has insisted that Manchester City won’t go on ‘giving presents’ and the younger players will have to work hard to earn their place in the squad.
Manchester City managed a comfortable 4-1 victory against Port Vale earlier in the FA Cup match up between them. The match also highlighted 17-year old Taylor Harwood-Bellis’s debut as he scored his first senior goal for the Sky Blues.
Pep Guardiola, while hinting that Phil Foden and Taylor Harwood-Bellis might be talented, said that they would have to prove themselves before seeing them become regular players.
“Of course, it is important [to have local young players] with Taylor and Phil – and Tommy,” Guardiola said as per Sportsmax.
“It’s not because they are English, we believe they can do it because they are good players. We don’t give presents. They have to earn for themselves.
“In these games, we have space for everyone. But from what we have seen so far, they have the quality to help.
“Young players have to not talk too much, to train, to work and to listen and learn and learn and learn. They have to learn. The minutes are good for their development, and then the future is in their hands.
