Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola won’t be entertaining any offers from Bayern Munich for Leroy Sane in the summer transfer window.

In light of Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva’s impressive displays down the wing this season, Sane has struggled to break into the City line-up.

The 23-year-old winger only started in 21 of City’s 38 Premier League games on route to a second successive title. Furthermore, he’s expected to be benched again for this evening’s FA Cup final against Watford.

Nonetheless, Sane still managed to register 10 goals and assists despite his limited opportunities in the league.

But the former Schalke 04 star has been linked with a return to the Bundesliga in Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians are expected to embark on a massive summer spending spree and have allegedly marked Sane as a target.

However, Guardiola won’t be listening to any offers from his old club for Sane.

“We are one-and-a-half years trying to sign his [new] contract. We want him,” said the Catalan, via Goal.

“If you want to extend his contract, it’s because you want him. You’re not going to extend his contract because you don’t want him.

“It’s like [Ilkay] Gundogan, for example – it’s the same case.

“About the transfer window, the hypothetical incomings and outgoings, it’s not the time. It’s after the game and after the game I’m on holiday.

“He’s competing with Sterling and Bernardo Silva. It’s not easy. If you want to play in for competitions for the quadruple we need Leroy, Sterling, Riyad [Mahrez], Bernardo, we can’t compete for the quadruple with just two wingers.

“They have to fight each other and play the best as possible to convince me to put them in the line-up.”

Vincent Kompany could leave City in the summer

Captain Vincent Kompany’s future has been in doubt for some time as his contract reaches its end in June.

The 33-year-old defender has been a key part of the Citizens’ success over the past decade. But injury problems have become a regular occurrence in the last couple of seasons.

When asked if Kompany will leave City, Guardiola replied: “Hopefully not.

“We spoke with Vinny. We are going to speak after this game. But my words are unnecessary for what he has done over the last few weeks and his career.

“Vinny has shown again when he is fit what he is able to do. It is top. The problem is the period between November and February and March. We were losing quite often for that reason. When he is fit he is incredible.

“He doesn’t have to show me his ability. He has it. He is incredibly good. He is good enough. It is just being fit. That is the only reason.”

Kompany has made 25 appearances for City in all competitions this season.

The Premier League and Carabao Cup winners will hope to become the first English team to win a domestic treble by beating Watford in the FA Cup final. Kick-off will begin at 18:00 (CET) at Wembley.
