Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola defended Ederson’s sweeper style in their 3-0 win win over Wolves on Monday night
The Brazilian goalkeeper stunned the crowd by coming out on to the midfield in the final few minutes of the game to win the ball and later exchange passes with team-mate Ilkay Gundogan.
Regardless though, Ederson’s antics had no effect on the result for City as he registered his ninth clean sheet in the Premier League this season.
“I’m so pleased because he lives high on the pitch and defends with our back four,” said Guardiola on the club website.
“[Adama] Traore is one of fastest payers I’ve ever seen in my life so handle the risk is not easy, our build-up was better and it is what it is.
“We love Ederson the way he is!”
Gabriel Jesus’ brace, along with a Conor Coady own goal, secured City a 3-0 win at the Etihad Stadium over 10-man Wolves.
The Citizens are now back within four points of Premier League leaders Liverpool in the title battle.
