Pep Guardiola is considered as one of the sharpest footballing minds of all time, and he’s currently doing wonders at Manchester City.
A lot of managers were hailed as Guardiola successors over the years, but only a few managed to live up to the reputation.
However, Pep thinks that the two Spanish midfielders will go on to become high-quality managers one day, as he praised Xabi Alonso and Xavi Hernandez for their understanding of the game.
“Xabi Alonso will become a great coach,” Pep said, according to Calciomercato.
“Xavi? He was already a coach when he was playing, his eyes shine when watching football.
“He will be a coach, sure. Xavi can coach wherever he wants, not just at Barça. Give him time.”
Xabi is currently coaching Real Sociedad’s second team, as he looks to build his managerial career from scratch.
Xavi also started his first steps in coaching, as he’s currently the manager of Al Sadd at Qatar.
Both of them were a part of Spain’s golden generation that won three consecutive big tournaments; Euro 2008, World Cup 2010, and Euro 2012.
Xavi Hernandez is widely considered one of, if not the best Spanish player of all times.
He also had a lot to learn from Guardiola, as the duo worked together at Barcelona from 2008 to 2012.
The midfielder often mentions to Pep as his reference point in coaching in his interviews.
