Borussia Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro expects his status as the top Portuguese scorer in this season’s Champions League will not last long
The 24-year-old defender, who also can play as a midfielder, scored in either half to secure Dortmund a 2-0 win at AS Monaco on Tuesday night and seal first-place in Group A.
Guerreiro has now scored four goals in as many games in the Champions League for Dortmund with Cristiano Ronaldo having only hit the target in Europe once this season for new club Juventus.
But Guerreiro believes it won’t be long for Ronaldo, who he describes as the world’s best player, to overtake him.
“I think maybe I’m the top Portuguese scorer in the competition for now but I know he (Cristiano Ronaldo) will overtake me,” Guerreiro told UEFA.com.
“The fact I’ve scored more goals than him this season doesn’t mean I’m better than him. He’s the best player in the world.“
Ronaldo will feature for Juventus tonight in Switzerland against BSC Young Boys, where they hope to claim all three points to finish as Group H winners.
