Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has conceded the Premier League title to Liverpool already.
It is only December, and there is already talk of the Premier League title race being over.
Liverpool has an eight-point lead over second-place Leicester City.
While it is highly unlikely Liverpool will fall apart in such catastrophic fashion stranger things have happened.
Who remembers Newcastle United in 1996, or Manchester United in 1998.
The Toon army blew a 12 point lead in January to lose out in the race for the title to Manchester United.
United themselves threw away an 11 point headstart on Arsenal only a couple of years later.
But Gundogan thinks it’s all over.
Speaking to BT Sports Gundogan acknowledges the points gap and what he considers an impossible task ahead.
“Obviously it’s so far a difficult season for us.”
“There’s already a huge gap in the Premier League between Liverpool and us.”
“We can’t deny that the title race is already over for us.”
“We have to compete to qualify for the Champions League again next season.”
“That’s disappointing, to be honest.”
“This early in the season to have such a huge gap is something that we’re not really used to.”
Many agree with Gundogan and the trolling already began.
