Manchester City suffered a tough blow to their title ambitions yesterday by losing to their main title challengers, Liverpool.
With the latest defeat, Manchester City and Gundogan are nine points behind Liverpool.
Manchester City’s midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan, refused to mark the title race as done.
“We have to accept it, but there is a long way to go. Last season in January we were quite far behind and were able to turn it around,” he said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.
“But we are not independent any more – we have to see how our competitors do, especially Liverpool, and that makes the situation more uncomfortable.
“We have to keep trying to play well and amass as many points as possible.”
The German midfielder also addressed the controversial VAR decisions, adding:
“What do you want me to say right now? Obviously as a City player it feels like a disadvantage for us.”
Just think, Liverpool’s first goal yesterday reveals where VAR will always fail. The game is too quick, even for the technology. And even with technology you need human input. And therefore you have the possibility of human error. So what’s the bleedin’ point?
