Consistency will be key for Borussia Dortmund next season, says Erling Haaland, as they already have the quality to beat Bayern Munich.
Haaland became an instant success at Borussia Dortmund upon joining from RB Salzburg in January.
The 19-year-old got off to a fairytale start in his BVB career by scoring a memorable hat-trick against Augsburg as a second-half substitute. He proceeded to score another 10 goals, finishing as the league’s sixth-highest scorer despite his limited time.
While Haaland impressed, however, the same couldn’t be said for Dortmund. They dropped points frequently, while rivals Bayern haven’t failed to win a game since February.
Therefore, Lucien Favre’s side finished 13 points behind the Bundesliga champions in second-place.
“We have the quality to become champions but talking alone is not enough,” Haaland told Sport Bild.
“Bayern have distinguished themselves by their incredible consistency.”
“We have to continue our development in the second half of the season and we want to be even more successful next year.”
Despite lingering interest from Real Madrid and Manchester United, Haaland has no plans to depart Signal Iduna Park.
“I have a long-term contract here until 2024,” he said on his future.
“In any case, it is my big goal to win BVB the title and to celebrate fantastic successes with our fans.”
