Join us in wishing legendary Italian manager Marcello Lippi a very happy birthday as we pay tribute to the master tactician.
Lippi is arguably one of the greatest mangers to come out of Italy.
In a managerial career that spanned 37 years so far and saw him lift 19 trophies, he has yet to officially call time on his career.
He was most recently employed as manager of the Chinese national team up until November of last year.
Lippi managed at several lower-division teams in his native Italy before spending a year at Napoli.
He then shot to stardom in his first of two spells with Juventus. His time with the Old lady of Italian football yielded 13 trophies, including the Champions League in 1996.
In between them he spent a short lived year at Inter Milan.
Following his second stint with the Bianconeri, he became to national team manager.
Again Lippi enjoyed two spells as boss of the Azzurri, from 2004 to 2006, then from 2008 to 2010.
It was during his first spell though that he became a national hero as he led the side to World Cup glory in 2006.
Following the second time in charge of Italy, he decided that a move to China was the next best thing for his career.
He took charge of Chinese giants Evergrande.
Again the tactician was a huge success, lifting three titles in the Chinese Superleague and the AFC Champions League.
After three years with Evergrande, he was asked to lead the Chinese national team. But after two unsuccessful spells he is currently unemployed.
It remains to be seen if he will take on another challenge at the ripe old age of 72.
Either way Marcello Lippi we at Ronaldo.com salute you Sir and wish you a very happy birthday!
