Tottenham have successfully tied down Ben Davies and Harry Winks to long-term contracts as the club gears up for another season.
With Ben Davies and Harry Winks set for a longer stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it is clear that the Londoners are not keen on allowing key elements of the squad to leave.
The duo has established itself as an important part of the starting XI under Mauricio Pochettino. This also send the right message to all those players who haven’t agreed on new deals yet.
The first name would be of Christian Eriksen who has one year left on his contract and wants to seek a new adventure.
Harry Winks was an ever-present last season and has already made 100 appearances for his team. The youngster has been at the club ever since he was a kid and never thought about leaving either.
As reported by The Evening Standard, Harry Winks said: “I’ve been at the club since I was five so when I got the opportunity to sign a new contract it was a no-brainer.
“It’s a contract that, like Ben, I’ve worked hard for. It’s been a difficult season but a great season last year especially so to sign a new contract, I’m delighted. I’m really happy.”
Ben Davies signed from Swansea City a few years ago and had two years left on his contract. Last season, he wasn’t a regular member of the starting XI the way he thought he should be. However, with Danny Rose’s future up in the air, the Wales international now has a great chance to turn the tables.
The defender said: “I’m delighted to sign here for the next five years. It’s one that I’ve worked really hard to put myself in the position to stay at his club for the next few years and I’m delighted to be here.”
This has been a really busy day for Tottenham who have also confirmed the appointments of Ryan Mason, Matt Taylor and Nigel Gibbs to the academy’s coaching team.
