Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is pleased to have spent more time on the training field with the squad ahead of Saturday’s trip to Leicester City
Since replacing Mark Hughes at Southampton, Hasenhuttl has had very little time to implement his methods due to the team’s hectic festive schedule.
The Austrian has barely been in the job for a month but he’s already had seven games, which has seen him collect two wins and draws along with three defeats.
However, this past week has finally given Hasenhuttl a chance to spend some proper time on the training pitch with his players and it seems he’s taken full advantage.
“It was good that we could take the time now to prepare the guys with more training sessions,” said Hasenhuttl on the club website. “I think we are well prepared.
“It’s absolutely clear that we used this week now and this time we had to prepare for these next games.
“We showed that we also can give good performances in the rhythm of three days a game, and that will be necessary for the next weeks.
“Because we have now this Derby game on Wednesday and then an important game against Everton at home.
“It’s then about being focused and trying to recover very well after the game – not so much chance to take in good training sessions, but we did that this week and that is important.”
Leicester will host Southampton at their King Power Stadium for a Premier League match, which will take place on Saturday at 16:00 (CET).
