Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink thinks Mourinho’s shut up shop tactics are entirely justified as the United manager received a lot of criticism for his approach to recent Premier League games against Liverpool and Tottenham.
Jimmy Hasselbaink, the former Chelsea player who was initially signed for the record fee of 15 million pounds back in 2000, has defended the Portuguese for his tactics as they were criticized despite winning a game and drawing another.
“If you want to be successful, you have to have that,” Hasselbaink said, according to the Mirror. “You need to be able to keep the zero and Mourinho knows that.”
“Out of everybody, he is one of the best at that.”
“You are not going to go through a whole season and be pretty. Only Barcelona have been able to do that – and that was a team that has been nurtured for years and years.”
“When it is your second year, you don’t have that. You have to be pragmatical at times and Jose is that. You have to be business like and that is what Manchester United have,” Hasselbaink went on to add.
