Lautaro Martinez hit his first hat-trick for the national team in a 4-0 thumping of Mexico and is proud of what he has achieved so far.
Lautaro Martinez says that he is happy and excited after putting three past Mexico in a rather impressive friendly win on Tuesday. The Inter Milan youngster was in blazing form out there and played a crucial role in ending Mexico’s winning streak under the guidance of Tata Martino.
While speaking through twitter, as reported by Goal.com, the young attacker spoke about his performance.
“I am happy and excited,” Martinez said, via the team’s Twitter account.
“There is a lot of sacrifice that one makes to be here and not every day three goals are made with this shirt.”
“It is very difficult to get here and stay. There are very good players,” he said.
“I am very happy and grateful to my team-mates and the coaching staff. We train to give joy to the national team. Hopefully we continue along this path.”
And Lionel Scaloni says that Argentina deserves a lot of credit for how far the national side has come.
“From 2014 to 2016 we played three finals. The line is very thin. To say that Argentina failed, it’s complicated,” Scaloni said.
Clearly, with the likes of Martinez and co in such great form, Argentina has a lot to look forward to. Despite not being able to win the Copa America earlier this summer, Albiceleste has shown its potential as a giant that only needs to be woken up from its slumber.
“It seems that not leaving as champion is worthless. The line is very thin. I would not throw so much in the trash.
“Everyone who comes to the national team shows incredible self-love. They give everything for this shirt.”
