Hazard: Barkley can become a big player for Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley is set for big things in the future, reckons teammate Eden Hazard

The 24-year-old netted his first Chelsea goal in Sunday’s 3-0 win at Southampton in the Premier League and had a hand in Hazard’s opening strike in the 30th-minute.

Blues coach Maurizio Sarri has tipped Barkley to become an important player for both club and country in the future, which Hazard also seems to agree on.

“He [Barkley] played a fantastic game,” Hazard told the club website.

“And it is not just because he scored a goal or that he made an assist. You can see on the pitch that he is very strong.

“He had some bad moments in the last year or two years with injury but I think he can reach a fantastic level because he is a fantastic player. I remember watching him at Everton. He is still young so I think he is a good player for the future with Chelsea.”

Since arriving from Everton in January, Barkley has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea with 11 of them coming from this season.
