According to Don Balon, Belgian winger Eden Hazard is a done deal for Real Madrid as Florentino Perez confirmed it to his board of directors.

Reports pouring in from Spain confirm what had been talked about for days right before the World Cup third-place match between Belgium and England. Real Madrid is close to an agreement with Chelsea FC to sign Eden Hazard for a steep €169 million which were agreed upon after days of negotiations between both clubs.

According to the Spanish media outlet Don Balon, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has already spoken to his board of directors to confirm Hazard as a done deal for Los Blancos. The source also states that the Spanish giants are just a few hours from closing the deal and should be announced in the next few days. Hazard is expected to report to training next week.

This news comes on the same day that Eden Hazard has been nominated for The Best FIFA award alongside his compatriots Kevin de Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku. At the start of the negotiations, Florentino Perez didn’t want to pay over €120 million for the Belgian player but the deal took a wrong turn this week and the transfer nearly didn’t take place.

The Real Madrid president knows that after being denied by PSG with the Neymar transfer, Hazard was one of the very few choices that remained in the summer transfer window for the Spanish club. The player’s arrival has already been approved by Los Blancos new manager Julen Lopetegui, who is already working with the team and preparing the new season.
