This Wednesday in the Carabao Cup, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard proved that he was the right man for Real Madrid with the stunner he scored at Anfield.

If you had any doubts that Belgian forward Eden Hazard is currently amongst the best players in the world and Real Madrid made a mistake by not signing him, all you have to do is look at what he did at Anfield Road coming in from the bench for Chelsea in the Carabao Cup. The Belgian forwards has been extremely hyped during the last couple of months for his world-class quality, this Wednesday he had the biggest challenge of the season by facing unbeatable Liverpool FC and all he needed was 34 minutes to turn the game around for the Blues to eliminate Jürgen Klopp’s side from their first competition by handing them their first defeat so far. There is no more unbeaten Reds and that is thanks to a brilliant Eden Hazard, who is already savoring what’s to come this Saturday at Stamford Bridge because Jürgen Klopp’s side will have a thirst for vengeance in the Premier League. It’s not as if Liverpool didn’t use many of their top players for this match, Klopp played with a very competitive side and Sarri decided to rest many of his most important players because he knows that next Saturday will be key for them. But he knew that using Hazard was going to come in handy during the second half, the Belgian is absolutely unplayable right now.

Chelsea’s number ’10’ entered the pitch right before an hour of this game had passed, when Liverpool was dominating with many chances created by Klopp’s side. Just two minutes after he came in, Daniel Sturridge scored Liverpool’s first goal of the evening and put the Blues against the ropes. But Hazard needed only a couple of chances to make the difference, the first one came after a set-piece where he sent a cross that Emerson just pushed inside for the equalizer. But five minutes before the final whistle is when the magic moment happened, the Belgian forward scored one of those historic goals that are within reach of very few players in football history. Chelsea’s assistant manager Gianfranco Zola was the man who predicted something like this would happen, after the match he spoke to Sky Sports: “I think it was a fantastic goal and especially not only the beauty but the moment. He was on his own with four defenders, an unbelievable goal. He’s not only one of the best in the Premier League – if not the best – he is one of the best in Europe if not the world. Eden is growing fast in his maturity and the choices he makes on the pitch, and in my opinion we haven’t seen the best of him yet. He’s remarkable,” said Zola after the match.

The forward was enjoying the match from the bench alongside teammate N’Golo Kante who also got to play during the last half hour of the match. Eden joked about looking at the Frenchman when the match was still tied and telling him that he preferred to avoid taking the game to penalties, but we have to get used to the fact that Hazard right now doesn’t joke around. At the level he is right now, what Eden says, Eden does: “I spoke with N’Golo on the bench and he told me he didn’t want to take a penalty, so the only solution was to score! I have scored some goals like that! Not all the time. It is on the top of the list, top 3. I remember around two years ago, the one against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. That one was nice. This one also is one of the best, especially when you score against a big team and win the game. That’s the most important thing. I think this game was more to have the confidence in three days time. We won so in the league we will change some players, they will change some players but we want to win again. Especially in front of our fans at Stamford Bridge. It is going to be a good day for us, I hope,” said Hazard on Chelsea TV.
