Alan Shearer believes Jordan Henderson to be the driving force behind Liverpool’s impressive campaign.

Liverpool moved one step closer to the Premier League title and to matching Arsenal’s incredible ‘invincible’ season after their 4-0 demolition of Southampton last night.

Jordan Henderson, along with usual suspect Mohamed Salah and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, was also on the scoresheet. With his strike, he marked his third goal of the season so far.

And Alan Shearer has praised the Liverpool skipper while singling out his performance. Speaking on the BBC‘s match day, the Premier League record goalscorer also insisted that he saw Henderson as the most deserving of the Player of the Year award.

“I believe that if the season was to end tomorrow, he would be my Player of the Season. Absolutely no doubt about it,” he said.

“He gets his reward of his goal because of his hard work. I thought he was magnificent, as he has been all season. What a season he’s having, absolutely incredible.

“When you look at some of their performances, how special Liverpool have been, whether it’s the goalkeeper, Van Dijk, or the front three, he for me has been the driving force. He’s been superb.”
