Dean Henderson is determined to become the first-choice at Manchester United and match the success levels of the current No.1 David De Gea.
Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson has been enjoying yet another outstanding campaign with Sheffield United.
Currently on 11 clean sheets, three behind Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, and standing fourth overall on the list, Henderson is a strong contender to win this season’s Golden Glove.
The English shot-stopper was a fundamental figure in helping his side gain Premier League qualification last season and remains so in their quest to achieve European football in this one.
Many fans and pundits, as a result, believe it is time for him to become the first-choice at Man United the next season replacing David De Gea, who has been inconsistent as of late.
The 23-year old feels the same. However, should his parent club fail to provide with the chance, he asserts he will not hesitate to search for pastures new.
Henderson told TV3: “It feels like I always hit a brick wall. Maybe I’ll get the opportunity [to play for Man Utd], maybe I won’t, then I’ll have to look down a different avenue.
“The fans have to remember what he’s [De Gea] done for the last nine years. He’s been phenomenal. He’s probably been the best player at United for that time period. He should get another opportunity.
“I’m a young lad, I’m working hard. I’m a fan of the club and I want to play for them. Hopefully, I have a career at Man Utd like David de Gea has.”
