According to the Reds’ footballer, the team never doubted themselves, even after losing 3-0 in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal.
Liverpool reached the UEFA Champions League Final for the second year in a row thanks to a fantastic win 4-0 over Barcelona in the Semifinal’s second leg.
But according to Reds’ footballer Jordan Henderson, it was the pre-match talk of Jurgen Klopp what inspired the team to win.
“The manager always believes, you can see that in the talk he gave to us before we came to the stadium and that helps the players believe,” the Liverpool captain said according to Sky Sports.
“You can see within the game that we believed right from the first minute. We started well got a good goal, kept believing, kept fighting and got our rewards in the end.”
“Within the team is always belief and that’s the great thing about this team,” he explained.
“An amazing night. A special one really, for the fans, for the team, for everyone. I’m not sure people expected it before the game, but we said to each other we would fight right until the end and give everything – we managed to do that tonight.”
Virgil van Dijk explained what happened: “I think everyone is ready to come in, ready to do the job. Everyone knows what they have to do. I think the key to us playing is doing it all together.”
“We attack together, we defend together. If the ball is in one position of the pitch we are going to make sure we fight for the ball altogether.”
“We played fantastically. Obviously, they are going to have moments because they are a fantastic team. It’s just amazing to go to the final,” he concluded.
