Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuaín was forced off during the opening exchanges with injury during Juventus’ 1-0 victory at Torino on Sunday
During the Derby della Mole, Higuaín sustained an injury during the early exchanges of the game. As reported on the club website, the Argentine received a sprained and bruised left ankle and no further update will be given until the club have conducted further tests.
Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro, who played an integral part in their win against Torino, conceded that the news came as a blow to his side, but praised them for reorganising well and getting the three points.
“We reorganised well – the boss put [Douglas] Costa up front and asked the wide players to get into the box more,” explained Sturaro. “There were a few difficulties and Torino showed that they are in good form, but as I’ve said, the talk isn’t important today. Winning is the only thing that counts.” said Sturaro told the club website.
“This is a massive three points. Given the way the game started, with Gonzalo having to go off, winning here gives us a morale boost and keeps us in a good position in the table.”
Juventus remain in second in the Serie A standings and will be hoping that Higuain recovers soon, as they face a crucial second leg Champions League match against Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
