Gonzalo Higuain is happy he returned to Juventus and has the opportunity to be reunited with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Argentine spent last season on loan away from parent club Juventus. But now he’s back he is planning on staying.

He had a half-season with AC Milan and a half-season with Chelsea.

There was plenty of speculation , that he would be offloaded this summer, as the Maurizio Sarri revolution in Turin got underway.

However, it appears that the reunion with his onetime Napoli boss, and the man who brought him to Stamford Bridge, is working out just fine.

He has been in fine form already this season, playing twice and bagging a goal too.

In an interview with Sky Sport Italia, Higuain said:

“Last season was not easy. I am happy to be at Juventus.”

“When I returned, nobody told me anything. I returned to work, to demonstrate my quality.”

“I wanted to return to┬áJuventus from day one. I feel good and happy.”

he continued about the drive at the club to succeed:

“Juventus’ great rival is Juventus itself.”

“Juventus must follow this path.”

“This is the way to reach our goals, having confidence in ourselves.”

His return this season reunites him with Cristiano Ronaldo, with whom he played with at Real Madrid.

He added:

“When I played with Cristiano in Madrid, he was younger.”

“Now, he is a more complete player. I am happy to return to play with him.”

When he came back, his favoured number nine shirt was available, but this new beginning also prompted him to choose a new shirt number.

He explains:

“I decided to leave the No.9 and choose No.21 because my daughter was born that day.”

“It’s a way to always take her with me. It was a heartfelt decision that, for the moment, is bringing me luck.”
