Leganes goalkeeper Pichu Cuellar was sent off in the La Liga clash with Atletico Madrid after faking being sucker-punched by a ball boy
Theatrics are commonplace in football, unfortunately, and some players have a reputation for it. The game between Atletico Madrid and Leganes entered the 95th minute. Cuellar went behind his goal to retrieve the ball. It was there his acting skills stooped to a whole new level of low.
The Wanda Metropolitano ball boy handed the ball to the keeper who kept handing it back. It was a cunning ploy to waste time. His side was desperate to hang on to the 0-0 draw.
The ball boy was having none of it. He is seen giving the professional athlete a slight shove or poke by the onlooking cameras.
The Spanish shot-stopper went down like he had been sucker-punched by a heavyweight boxer.
The Leganes number one had already received a caution earlier in the game. He was subsequently given a second yellow card and his marching orders.
His theatrics went even further after a confrontation with Alvaro Morata as he left the field.
Cuellar threw himself to the floor once more. It can only be seen as an attempt to get his opponent sent off too.
