Glenn Hoddle has called on Mauricio Pochettino to start Harry Kane on the bench when Tottenham Hotspur take on Liverpool FC in the Champions League final next weekend.
Harry Kane has been out of action since he sustained an ankle problem during Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win over Manchester City back in April.
Pochettino recently revealed the prolific striker could feature in what would be the biggest game of his career so far when Spurs take on Liverpool FC in the showpiece in Madrid.
However, former Tottenham midfielder Hoddle believes Spurs should avoid rushing Kane back into the starting line up due to the intensity and pace of the final against Liverpool FC.
“I’m hoping that Harry Kane is on the bench. I’d put him on the bench because I think the tempo of the game will be very, very quick at the beginning,” Hoddle told football.london.
“He’s not going to be 100 per cent fit and that ankle will still have to be strengthened if nothing else. Long-term there’s another scenario he’s got to protect it for.
“I would say every player on that pitch, whatever the scoreline, whether he’s coming on to score a goal or work defensively in the last half hour it’s a boost.”
