Frank Lampard’s men suffer their second consecutive defeat in the Premier League against West Ham United.
Scoreline: Chelsea 0-1 West Ham United
Following Tammy Abraham‘s injury, Oliver Giroud made his first start for Chelsea in three months. Under fire coach Manuel Pellegrini also tinkered with his team with four changes from their last match.
Chelsea had a brilliant chance to go to the front early in the match. Pedro laid the ball to Christian Pulisic whose header missed the goal.
Christian Pulisic missed a couple of more chances before the half time break. The American’s poor finishing meant the match went into the second half just as it started.
But the deadlock was broken in less than five minutes after the start of the second half. Aaron Cresswell brilliantly buried the ball past Kepa after Reece James was unable to stop him. It was West Ham 1-0 Chelsea at the 48th minute.
Both the teams got chances as the game went on but neither were able to change the scoreline. The match ended with West Ham emerging as surprise winners.
The Blues now sit at the fourth place in the Premier League table with 26 points from 14 games. As for West Ham, they have room to breathe but not for long.
