How PSG suffers without Neymar on their starting XI

Last Sunday it was proven that PSG goes through a lot of trouble when they don’t have a player like Neymar on the starting XI, Mbappé is not enough.

PSG’s last Ligue 1 match against Olympique Lyonnais was an ideal way to test out if the squad was good enough to play a difficult match without Neymar, the result was the French giant’s first defeat of the season and a team that could hardly get organized.

It was also proven that Kylian Mbappé is not ready to get the responsibility of the team’s offensive initiative on his own, Neymar is an essential part of this squad and they are going to have a terrible time against Manchester United if they don’t find a solution fast.

There may be some animosity against Neymar’s style of football from the rivals, but his teammates already know how important this player is for their aspirations to compete for any trophy this season and even Kylian Mbappé accepted that the squad will suffer without the Brazilian.

The way in which he is never afraid to take the ball in order to lead all the attacks alone is more than enough proof that Paris Saint-Germain needs a player like him on every important match, the Brazil skipper already started his recovery process but it will take him a while.

During the winter transfer window for PSG, the club tried to find another player who could replace Neymar’s functions during the time he would be out of all competitions but they also realized this was impossible.

You may like or hate Neymar’s personality, but there is no question that he is one of the players who has the biggest influence in all the squads he plays.

The only club where Neymar wasn’t really that influential was Barcelona, but this was only because the Catalan club already had Lionel Messi and he tends to eclipse any other player who comes to play for them.

However, when the Argentine missed any matches due to injuries and Neymar was given more freedom to play, the Brazilian always stepped up to the occasion and never disappointed.

The reason why Neymar has struggled too much at PSG apart from the injuries he’s suffered so far, is the fact that the French club doesn’t have the same quality players as Barcelona does.

Matthijs de Ligt, Juventus

Fabio Capello backs quality Matthijs de Ligt to improve

Former Juventus boss Fabio Capello is confident Matthijs de Ligt will bounce back from a shaky start and rediscover his best form in Turin over time.

Because Paris Saint-Germain may have Mbappé or Marco Verratti, but their defence is light years away from the FC Barcelona backline and that’s where they struggle the most.

These two months will be extremely challenging for the French club, they are about to embark on a very complicated task of getting past the threshold of another Champions League Round of 16.

When the draw took place and PSG got Manchester United, there was a general feeling of relief by many of the club’s supporters because of how bad the Red Devils were performing under Jose Mourinho.

But things have taken a drastic twist now, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has completely changed the squad and PSG just lost their very best player for the two matches against them.

Football is like this, it can change overnight without even realizing it and everything can become more difficult in the blink of an eye.

Odds for this upcoming match are that Manchester United will get the advantage and eliminate PSG once more from the Champions League, not having Neymar is the biggest reason why they may not have a chance to get far in the competition again.

If they don’t get to eliminate the Red Devils, there is also a big chance that both the Brazilian and Kylian Mbappé leave the club next summer looking for that success they couldn’t find here.
