With the Spanish capital’s Derby right around the corner, let’s see how Real Madrid is getting ready to visit Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano.

The Spanish La Liga continues this weekend with the Derby from the capital, Atletico Madrid gets a very special visit from Real Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Santiago Solari’s squad is going to visit their biggest rival from the city and complete two away matches in one week, they are coming fresh out of a relatively good Copa del Rey performance at Camp Nou vs Barcelona and they have their confidence through the roof right now.

After the Colchoneros lost their previous match at Real Betis, Real Madrid has a unique opportunity to get back to the second position and finally make their complete recovery official.

Santiago Solari is one of the men responsible for this revival, a return of a squad that wasn’t looking like they were too eager to keep competing for titles this season but they eventually found the motivation they lacked for the first few months of the tournament last year.

There are a few specific names we are going to drop here, of the people who are responsible for this revival because the manager or his technical staff shouldn’t take all the credit for this.

Real Madrid’s defensive players

Let’s start in the back with captain Sergio Ramos, the Spain international already was the team leader before Cristiano Ronaldo left the club but he didn’t have as much presence as he wanted with the Portuguese forward taking all the spotlight for himself.

Today, Ramos is the one who takes the penalties from the spot and he has even developed a “tradition” of taking the shot with a “Panenka-styled” attempt with incredible results.

The skipper also tends to take the free-kicks and he even participates in offensive plays for the squad when necessary.

Another great addition to the squad this season is young left-back Reguilon, an academy player who seems determined to take Marcelo’s place in that position.

Both of the players we’ve mentioned are most likely going to play at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday and try to help their squad get another three points that can give Real Madrid the second position again.

Another player who will see action with Los Blancos on Saturday is Raphael Varane, someone who has played almost everything this season with no setbacks.

Casemiro will be right in front of them for this match, the Brazilian didn’t play against Barcelona a couple of days ago because the manager was thinking of this game for him.

Real Madrid’s offensive players

Moving forward we have the midfielders and forwards for Real Madrid, we can’t stress enough how important Luka Modric is for this squad and having him in a good moment is what could decide if they actually can fight for trophies this season or not.

The Croatian midfielder may have started the season in low form after the incredible World Cup he had, but he seems completely recovered and ready to help his teammates achieve all their goals.

Toni Kroos is also a player who is completely recovered from the start of the season, he will play right next to Luka tomorrow. Up front, we have two players who won’t miss this match, one of them is Vinicius Junior and the other is Karim Benzema.

The Brazilian is doing everything he can to help the fans forget Cristiano Ronaldo but he still lacks the goals, Benzema is currently going through the best moment of his career and should be an important factor in tomorrow’s game at the Metropolitano.

Solari only doubts about the third player up front, he doesn’t know if he will choose either Gareth Bale or Lucas Vazquez. We’ll know Los Blancos’ line up one hour before the game.
