Mats Hummels says Jadon Sancho can be a very important for Borussia Dortmund next season after the club vowed to keep him.

It’s been all about Jadon Sancho today after Borussia Dortmund announced their intention to keep the player next season.

The Bundesliga giants were reportedly open to selling the 20-year-old but were only ready to do so on their own terms. From the onset, Dortmund made it pretty clear they will only listen to offers of €120m.

The Red Devils were unwilling to match that huge amount and the latest official indication is that any deal for Sancho is off.

For a player who had 40 goal contributions (20 goals and 20 assists) in all competitions for Dortmund this season, it would be outright difficult to replace him.

Reflecting at the club’s decision to keep him next season, Mats Hummels believes Sancho can be the difference in their quest for silverware next term.

“He can be the player who makes the difference. I’m happy that he is staying.” the defender said as quoted by Goal.

Hummels also confirmed he is close to recovery after suffering an ankle injury last month.

“I’m completely on schedule,” he added.

“I was able to do what was planned every day. It’s only a matter of days before I can at least do part of the team training again.”

Will Sancho still go on to join Manchester United this summer? Owen Hargreaves thinks so.
