Sadio Mane poured cold water on doubts surrounding his Liverpool future by opening up on just how “really happy” he is at the club.
Mane’s progress over the last 12 months has been nothing short of remarkable, with the Liverpool forward now rated as one of the Premier League’s best players.
The Senegal captain fired home an impressive 22 league goals last season to share the Golden Boot award with team-mate Mohamed Salah and Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
He also excelled in Europe to help Liverpool end a seven-year wait for silverware by winning the Champions League.
These fine performances allegedly caught the interest of Real Madrid. With no more Cristiano Ronaldo, the Spanish giants considered an approach for Mane in the summer transfer window.
But Mane, who is under contract at Anfield until June 2023, revealed a Liverpool exit is the last thing on his mind.
“To be honest, I’m really happy to be a part of the club, the family here,” he told American media outlet Complex.
“We have the best fans in the world here, so I’m always so thankful for the support.
“It’s not just great for me too—it gives the whole squad more motivation to perform. It keeps us hungry to get better and better together…I really struggle to describe how happy I am to be here!”
Another bit of good news for Reds supporters is the fact Mane seems set for another brilliant campaign. So far, he has scored four goals in the club’s opening five games of the season in all competitions.
