New AS Monaco signing Willem Geubbels feels that he can become even better than Kylian Mbappe
The 17-year-old was signed for Monaco in €20m deal from Ligue 1 rivals Lyon and comparisons between himself and Mbappe have already arisen.
But Geubbels intends to aim higher.
“It makes you want to do good things when you see what he did. I am not putting pressure on myself,” he said on GetFranceFootball.
“I am very young too. It is easy to make the comparison. I can very well see myself following his footsteps and doing better.”
Geubbels has made two appearances for Lyon in the Ligue 1 and made his league debut for Monaco in the last seven minutes of a goalless draw with Lille on Saturday.
The appearance made the France U-18 international the third youngest player to play for Monaco behind Italian Pietro Pellegri (16 years, 10 months and 30 days) and Mbappe (16 years, 11 months and 12 days).
Geubbels signed a contract with Monaco until 2023.
