The Italian defender joined Sampdoria in 2017 after six years in Cagliari and believe he has now grown to be a better left-back
Italian defender Nicola Murru joined Lega Serie A club Sampdoria in 2017.
Since then he has appeared only in 20 matches, but this 2018-2019 he has gained a place in the starting eleven.
“I feel that the club and coach [Marco] Giampaolo have faith in me. I have improved and I am more confident now. Last year I didn’t play with continuity,” he was quoted by Gianluca Di Marzio.
“It was my first season here, I had to settle to the new club and I made mistakes that cost us points.”
“There is an anecdote that epitomizes my relationship with the coach: he showed me the clip of the goal that Dzeko scored against us last season and explained to me how I did a mistake,” he explained.
“But then he boosted my confidence playing me in the next game. Europa League? We are more compact and solid than last year, but at the same time we have players up front that can score.”
“Quagliarella? He gets better with age. He is smart, that gives him a huge boost,” he commented.
