Daniel James suggests he was ecstatic upon hearing Manchester United were showing interest in signing him during his time at Swansea.
Manchester United snapped up Daniel James from Swansea last summer in a deal worth €17 million.
James quickly made his mark as he scored coming off the bench to help seal a thrilling 4-0 victory for Man United against Chelsea in the opening day of the Premier League.
Although his form dipped in the late stages, he remained a reliable player for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, prior to football getting suspended.
The forward recently tried to recall the flush of overwhelming emotions he experienced upon first being linked to United.
“I can’t remember the exact place I was but I know it was a time near the end of the season,” James told NBC Sports.
“It was only talk at the start so I didn’t really believe it to be honest. I still don’t believe it now!
“To hear that Manchester United were interested was surreal for me because it was my first year in senior football. The year before I’d went out on loan and not played so it was just surreal and at the first moment I didn’t believe it.”
