Antonio Cassano has expressed his desire and “love to play for Bologna, calling it “an incredible club and city.”

Cassano just turned 36 and since January 2017 hasn’t played competitive football.

The veteran started pre-season training at Hellas Verona last summer and then quit two weeks later. According to Football Italia, he has been speaking about his willingness to play for Pippo Inzaghi’s Bologna.

“I would love to play for Bologna, as it’s an incredible club and city,” Cassano said.

“They revitalised the careers of Roberto Baggio, Beppe Signori and Marco Di Vaio. I think it is the ideal place to play football and aim for something more than just Serie A safety.

“In Bologna, they don’t like mediocrity or the ordinary, while I don’t play for money. I play only for passion now, as I’ve earned everything I needed to. If I was playing for money, I’d have accepted a proposal from China.

“So far there are no open doors, but I have been training regularly and lost 10kg in four months.”
