Celta Vigo have announced that Iago Aspas will be sidelined for the next month with a leg injury
The Spanish forward was withdrawn in Celta’s 2-0 defeat to Barcelona last week in the second half at Camp Nou.
Now Celta have announced Aspas has suffered a breakage of the fibers in the internal calf of his right leg after tests were undertaken.
“The ultrasound completed by the medical services of Celta on forward Iago Aspas confirm the initial diagnosis and revealed he suffered a breakage of fibers in the inner calf of his right leg,” read a statement on the club website.
“The withdrawal period will be four to five weeks.”
Aspas will definitely miss Celta’s first three games of 2019 against Athletic Bilbao, Rayo Vallecano and Valencia.
Although the 31-year-old could be available for the game against Real Valladolid on January 27 depending on his recovery.
Aspas is the fourth highest scorer in La Liga this season with 10 goals in 17 games.
