Ibrahimovic remembers his good days at AFC Ajax

Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is delighted with AFC Ajax’s current season in European football, he recalled his best moments at the club.

Finding out that Zlatan Ibrahimovic actually works well with an offensive system such as AFC Ajax’s is surprising.

Those who don’t remember may get confused by the LA Galaxy striker’s recent statement in which he praises Erik ten Hag’s system and the offensive style itself.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of the few players who didn’t work inside Pep Guardiola’s FC Barcelona squad during his prime.

The forward actually was part of a brilliant AFC Ajax generation that had several incredible players and won many important titles during his time there.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic recognizes this club as the most prolific in regards to producing young talents to the rest of the football world.

Ibra recognized that he needed to play at a club such as Ajax in order to understand attacking football better before making another major move to continue his career.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic wouldn’t be the offensive striker he is today if he hadn’t played with the Ajaccied during the start of his professional career.

The LA Galaxy player expressed his satisfaction for the great moment that AFC Ajax is currently going through but he revealed that he is not surprised by it.

During an interview with Voetbal International last week, Ibrahimovic explained why it is so important for clubs such as AFC Ajax to exist.

He believes that these institutions with great tradition are essential for world-class players to develop their skill to their fullest in order to triumph in clubs of a larger scale.

“As a young ambitious football player, there is no better club than Ajax,” he told Voetbal International.

“The way of training, the philosophy of the club, the fellow players with whom you are surrounded as a youngster: it is all at a very high level. I would advise any talent to start his career at Ajax.”

“That is precisely what I find so strong about the club: the long period in which they prove that their philosophy works. It is incredible how many top players they have produced.”

“If you have the right mentality, it is easy to take big steps at Ajax: keep your eyes and ears wide open, learn from the professionals at the club and work hard.”

“These are the first steps to becoming one of the best football players in the world. I am still grateful to Ajax for being the first foreign club to offer me that.”

Treble chances for AFC Ajax

The Dutch squad is one of the few clubs in European football with a chance to win the Treble this season.

They are currently fighting at the very top of the Eredivisie against PSV Eindhoven.

Erik ten Hag’s squad is also trying to win the Dutch Cup as they are set for the final against Willem II at the beginning of May.

But the most complicated part of this possible Treble is winning the Champions League, the Dutch squad is currently in the tournament’s semifinals.

The rival is Tottenham Hotspur and beating them would take them to the final at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Although it is complicated to get this far in every single tournament they are playing, Ajax has a good chance of winning everything if they keep performing with that philosophy.

Certainly, this squad carries the tradition and memory of countless players who represented the club in the past.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be watching them from a distance hoping they can win all the trophies by the end of the season.

Ibra didn’t win the Champions League for Ajax but he did score some incredible goals and won many domestic titles.
