AC Milan are worried Zlatan Ibrahimovic may be ruled out of the rest of the season through injury. He suffered a calf injury in training.

If anything is to go by, Ibrahimovic might have played his last game for AC Milan.

The 38-year-old joined in January on a six-month loan deal set to expire at the end of June. Although, Milan do have an option to renew his contract for a further 12 months.

In all competitions, Ibrahimovic has scored four goals for the Rossoneri since he made his return.

With the Serie A penciled to resume on June 13, Milan face the prospect of not having the big Swede available for action.

As per Sky Sports, Ibrahimovic felt a sharp pain on his Achilles after taking a shot in training on Monday morning.

It won’t be the first time he’s faced similar problem, with the same issue forcing him to miss some games in January and February.

Sky Sport Italia journalist Peppe Di Stefano is quoted to have said:

“Today, Ibra stopped during a training match at the end of the session. After a finish, he puts his weight on the foot and feels something in his calf, the one that he struggled with between January and February.

“There’s a concrete possibility of a strain but also fear of an Achilles tendon problem. We have to be careful about what we say, but it must be said.”

Ibrahimovic is now expected to undergo tests tomorrow to know the full extent of his injury.

Milan currently sit seventh in the Serie A and would be hopeful the forward can still play a part in their bid to secure European places for next season.

Before this injury, Ibrahimovic was already being linked with an exit from the club and this latest event only brings more uncertainty regarding that.
