Mauro Icardi wants to stay at Paris Saint-Germain beyond his season loan, but admits talks with the club have not yet begun.
Mauro Icardi left Inter Milan in acrimonious circumstances.
It was the last-minute summer transfer window deal his agent and wife Wanda Nara struck up with PSG that saved his career.
Few were willing to take the one-time Inter captain after such a public falling out. The Argentine was considered by many a trouble maker.
However, PSG took a chance, and what a deal they got.
They signed Icardi on a season-long loan and agreed to an option to buy at 70 million Euros after a year.
He struggled to get fit at first after six months of training alone. But now he is up to speed and in the kind of form that could demand a transfer fee close to double the agreement in place.
According to Football Italia, afterwards, Icardi let the world know he wants to make Paris his permanent home.
“I feel very good in Paris.”
“I haven’t spoken to the club yet, but there are still four or five months left of the season.”
“When the season is over in May, we will sit down and talk.”
“If I have a chance to stay, I will be happy.”
