David Moyes has laughed off rumors about Declan Rice to Chelsea, saying he might as well ask for Blues youngster Billy Gilmour in return.
West Ham boss David Moyes has revealed his great admiration for Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour.
The teenager has made seven senior appearances for the Blues this season and has impressed on a couple of occasions, including a man-of -the-match performance against Liverpool.
Aged only 18, Gilmour has already received praise from Lampard and a lot of pundits, who have already likened his game to greats like Iniesta and Paul Scholes.
Elsewhere, Declan Rice has been linked to Chelsea in recent weeks, with the former Blues man admitting he wanted to cut it big at his boyhood club.
David Moyes has now insisted he is aware of those rumors and jokingly announced his desire to bring Gilmour to West Ham in response.
Speaking to BBC Scotland’s Scottish football podcast c/t by Evening Standard, Moyes said: “The one [Scottish player] who if I could sign tomorrow I would is Billy Gilmour after his opening performances for Chelsea.
“He’s looked like a seasoned pro, he’s looked like somebody who’s hungry, who’s in love with the game.”
He added: “I was laughing because I keep getting told that Chelsea want Declan Rice, so I thought well I might just decide I want Billy Gilmour and see how it goes.”
“We need to start getting a Scottish national team that gives us some hope but he’s certainly a really talented looking player.”
Declan Rice is reportedly available in the summer for a price of £70m. What do fans think about that though?
