Ighalo dedicates first United goal to his late sister

Odion Ighalo scored his first goal for Manchester United and dedicated it to his late sister.

Odion Ighalo got his first start and his first goal for Manchester United all in one night.

Ighalo who is a life long United fan made his dream move on loan to United this winter from the Chinese Super League.

He had made a couple of brief substitute appearances before last night and missed a couple of opportunities in the process.

But last night in an interview, according to Goal, was a special occasion.

He said:

“It was a great moment, I have been waiting for this since making my debut.”

“I have it now and it starts my goal career here at the team I have supported since I was a little boy.”

“It is a dream come true and I thank God for that. “

In celebration of his goal, the Nigerian international raised his shirt to reveal a tribute to his late sister.

Mary Atole suddenly passed away in December.

He added:

“I promise myself that every goal I score I will dedicate to her [his late sister].”

“So she is up there watching me and doing well for MUFC.”
