Kelechi Iheanacho was the unlikely hero for Leicester yesterday, scoring the winning goal against the unlucky Everton in the dying seconds of the match.
Not only did he score – it was Iheanacho’s first goal in 13 months!
However, with the match being full of drama, Leicester had to wait for VAR to confirm their striker’s goal.
Iheanacho didn’t mind VAR at all. Instead, he even proposed a new nickname for himself after the match:
“I’ve been waiting for this opportunity. I knew one day it’s going to come,” he told Sky Sports.
“I’m happy today to get the goal and assisting Jamie.
“You can call me Mr.VAR – I knew it was a goal. I was onside. Happy that VAR gave me it.”
Well, Mr. VAR, congratulations on ending your drought and hopefully it’s just first of many this season.
