Quique Setien insists he has no intention in interfering with Gerard Pique’s personal life as long as he keeps his focus on Barcelona.
Barcelona defender Gerard Pique’s commitment to his footballing career at the club has been called into question in recent times as he is often seen being involved in off-field activities related to his business ventures.
Gerard Pique’s company Kosmos Holding oversaw the revamp of Tennis’ Davis Cup that was held last year in Madrid. The Spaniard was also reported to have missed his training after being caught up in business-related work abroad.
But Barcelona manager Quique Setien is not concerned with the defender growing his empire. Setien said that he trusted Pique enough and that he has no say in the 32-year old’s personal life.
“I am not the father of any of them. I’m only their coach. I will worry about one of them when they do not train well,” he told Sport.
“What am I going to tell him about what he can and cannot do?
“Pique is mature and responsible for what he can do and what he can’t. I see him train well, willingly. What he does in his private life… I’m not on top of these things.”
