Juventus have reason to be confident against Atalanta in the Coppa Italia final, with a certain Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks.
It’s been an uncharacteristic season for Juventus. From genuine title contenders at the start of the start of the Serie A season, they are left scrapping for European spots with one game to do. Except results go their way, it could well see them in the Europa League next term. For Ronaldo, he has maintained his exploits in front of goal but has also suffered criticism as one of the reasons behind his side’s slump.
Amid all of the recent disappointment, Juventus have a chance to end their season on a high as they take on Atalanta in the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday.
Atalanta would not come as easy opponents in any way. Infact, they are up there with Inter as one of the most in-form Italian sides at the moment, currently boasting a 10-game unbeaten run.
However, Juventus have Ronaldo in their ranks and that could play out well in their favour.
Ronaldo is one for the big occasion
This game would count as Ronaldo’s 37th final in his career. CR7 has featured in 29 – missing others through injury – winning 19, losing 10 and scoring 20 goals.
That translates into a 71 percent scoring success rate in finals – including extra time and penalty shootouts – and his goals usually lead to trophies.
In Juventus colours, this would be his fifth final, winning two in which he scored (Supercoppa Italiana in 2018 and in 2020) and losing the other two which he didn’t score ( 2019 Supercoppa and the 2020 Coppa Italia).
It simply translates to the fact that Ronaldo scoring today could be a good omen for Juventus in their quest for glory. Given his knack for trophies, we can expect to see him at his best today as the Bianconeri chase their second title of the season.
