Former United Captain Paul Ince thinks that bringing in the likes of Mario Mandzukic or Zlatan Ibrahimovic to United is not the solution to their problems.

One thing for sure, United are in desperate need of some more firepower.

But Ince is not convinced either of these two are right for United.

Granted Mandzukic would be an unknown quantity in the English Premier League.

However, Ibrahimovic is a tried and tested solution. But it remains to be seen if he would seriously return.

In an interview with the Mirror, Ince believes youth is the answer.

he said:

“They should be looking at young strikers.”

“I don’t think Mandzukic is the answer.”

“If they’re looking to go down the young route then they should be looking at young strikers, not Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] or Mandzukic.”

He is really not convinced United can get the right player in January but will sign someone.

Ince added:

“I feel that you never get your best players in January, clubs don’t sell their best players in January.”

“So whoever Manchester United are going to get is going to be a stop-gap.”

He doesn’t mince his words when he describes the current dire situation his old club finds themselves in.

He concluded:

“Against AZ Alkmaar they didn’t have a shot on target – that’s embarrassing.”

“Three pathetic shots against Newcastle, that’s embarrassing as well for Man United.”
