Ince hits out at Manchester United flops

Paul Ince has not been impressed with the displays of some of the players at Manchester United, calling one display diabolical.

Paul Ince may have left Manchester United a long time ago but the former England international has always kept tabs on their progress.

While speaking to BBC5Live, Ince said that most of the players at Manchester United are not delivering the way they should. He singled out the likes of Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez for not playing to their potential.

And while Marcus Rashford has shown potential, Ince says that even though he scored only 11 goals last season, he got a new contract.

“You’ve got Marcus Rashford who scored 11 goals last year and gets a new contract,” Ince told BBC 5Live.

Calling Lingard’s displays diabolical, Ince also said that Alexis Sanchez has been a hopeless failure. Indeed the Chilean hasn’t done anything of note since signing for the Red Devils in a big-money move.

“Jesse Lingard was diabolical last year, he really, really was.”

“Then there’s Alexis Sanchez. They got nothing out of Sanchez whatsoever.

“So as much as we’re talking about the defence and Chris Smalling and Harry Maguire, surely we’ve got to be looking at who’s going to be playing up top.”

Ince says that the club really needs to look at the situation attack wise since things aren’t looking great. Indeed, the clubs struggled for creativity and goals throughout last season. Most of the attacking players weren’t able to create the sort of openings that became a hallmark of the club during the time of Sir Alex Ferguson.

“We need to be looking at that because attacking-wise they’re not great.”

And Martial was also not spared by Ince due to his frustrating displays.

“Martial? He’s a fizzy drink. He pops now and then. One moment he’s great, one moment he’s not.”
