Cristiano Ronaldo came back with a bang for Juventus on Sunday and left Lionel Messi for shame following his match-winning heroics.
COVID-19 challenged Ronaldo and lost.
The Portuguese ace missed several important games in the Nations League, Serie A, and Champions League over the last month after testing positive for coronavirus before finally returning a negative result.
Despite his lack of football and preparation for the match against Spezia, Ronaldo pulled off an electrifying return and showed up Messi at the same time.
Andrea Pirlo only gave him 34 minutes of football on Sunday, but he only needed two to get on the scoresheet.
Ronaldo wasted no time in rediscovering his magical goalscoring touch to restore Juventus’ lead in the 59th-minute.
He picked up the ball with a single touch before baiting the Spezia keeper from his line, rounding him, and then putting it into the back of the net.
Then, just 17 minutes later, Ronaldo scored a cheeky Panenka-style penalty to double his tally and seal Juventus 4-1 win – all while leaving Messi down in the dumps at the same time.
The Barcelona skipper has endured a terrible month with only two goals to his name in seven appearances and 630 minutes of football.
While Ronaldo, who had played no football for Juve since September 27, took just 34 minutes to match Messi’s goal tally.
“Serie A is a competitive league. Milan are doing a great job, as well as Lazio and Napoli. We have to work hard, but we are growing.”
CR7 added: “Cristiano is back, and this is the most important thing.”
Hard to argue with that one, right?
