Brazilian legend Rivaldo feels that his compatriot Philippe Coutinho is still a desirable target despite his latest injury setback.

Bayern Munich recently announced that Philippe Coutinho had a set back following his recent ankle surgery.

The Brazillian attacker has been on loan all season at the Bavarian giants from Barcelona. It remains to be seen if Bayern will take up the 120 million Euro option to buy.

There are said to be other interested parties, including Premier League side Chelsea.

Despite his form and the new injury concern, former Barcelona player Rivaldo thinks that Coutinho is still a great buy and potential suitors will not be put off.

Speaking to Betfair, whether it’s Chelsea or another club, or even a return to Barcelona, whoever gets him will not be worried.

He said:

“Chelsea is the favorites to sign Coutinho and I don’t believe they will be put off by his recent injury.”

“After all, next season is still very distant and he will have enough time to completely recover.”

“On the other hand, if the transfer doesn’t go forward and he stays at Barcelona perhaps a salary reduction, based on the player’s decision, could earn plaudits from the club’s board.”

“Maybe let him show that he is eager to remain at the club and finally prove his worth.”

“I still believe Coutinho has the quality to succeed.”

“Coutinho must keep calm and be confident about the future because he has lots of quality to shine at any club.”

It remains to be seen if Barcelona will give the former Liverpool man a second chance. His sale is thought to be a key factor in generating funds for the club to conclude other transfer business.
