Check out this incredible golf course that Gareth Bale has in his back garden in Wales to enjoy when off-duty for Real Madrid.

Gareth Bale is a one of a kind footballer.

The 30-year-old has reached the pinnacle of football during a glorious career starring for Tottenham, Real Madrid and Wales. He’s a four-time Champions League winner and was once the world’s most expensive player, with a salary that many people can only scarcely imagine.

If there’s one thing that makes Bale truly stand out, though, it’s his love for golf. The Real Madrid ace is an avid fan of sport, frequently playing it during his free time. He reportedly intends to take a six-month round-the-world golf trip once his football career ends.

In the meantime, however, Bale ensures himself of plenty of practice. Aside from doing many rounds in Madrid, he enlisted Southwest Greens Construction to transform his own back garden in South Wales into some of golf’s most iconic holes.

These are the 17th hole at Sawgrass, ‘postage stamp’ 8th at Royal Troon and the 12th at Augusta National.

“I had a lovely bit of land here and it was something that I really wanted to do and I decided that I would love to make a dream come true and build a mini golf course in my house,” said Bale.

“I did my research online and I found Southwest Greens.

“We came up with a big concept of what I wanted to do. We loved the idea of it and went from a plain piece of land to building what we have now.

“It was a lot of hard work and a lot of craftmanship. It’s so much better than I ever thought it could be.”

They completed work on this state-of-the-art golf course in 2016 after six months in construction. However, it took a further two years for the course to mature before Bale could unveil the finished product.

The footballer was also actively involved in the design and construction of the golf course, holding regular meetings in Spain and Wales.

“They’re not exact replicas” President of Southwest Greens, Kevin Holinaty told WalesOnline.

“They’re in the spirit of’ these three holes and it was done like that. Whenever you build a golf course, whether it’s three holes at a home or a full course, there is a lot of planning that has to go in before you create your construction plan, which is based on whatever the topography is and the design that the architect comes up with.”
