Insigne future still up in the air

Lorenzo Insigne has been Napoli’s most loyal servant for many years but it appears that it is time for the Italian to leave the club.

As Lorenzo Insigne gets ready to become the torch-bearer for the University Games in San Paolo, many students and athletes will see how much of a presence the Italian has in the city. It would definitely be a beautiful sight that Insigne will be able to enjoy with great pride.

However, no one knows what’s happening inside the player’s head. Last season, Insigne had a lot of ups and downs. The club’s president, Aurelio de Laurentiis has admitted many times that the winger has asked to be sold in past.

By raising your standards, you invite more pressure and criticism. His relationship with coach Carlo Ancelotti has been damaged as well. His agent Mino Raiola on the other hand, hasn’t given any clarity on his client’s future either. More doubts have been raised over the player’s future this summer.

And while Insigne wants to stay at the club, de Laurentiis has said that he will not refuse a proposal if it is inviting enough. While Raiola chooses to keep a lower profile on that front, he might be quietly engineering a transfer similar to that of Kostas Manolas.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, De Laurentiis has hinted that if any club comes up with a good offer for one of his stars, he will listen to it as long as it is on time.

“We will consider offers for our big names only if they arrive soon. We need to have time to replace them,” said De Laurentiis.

In short, if Raiola comes up with an offer for Insigne in the dying embers of the transfer market, the player won’t be sold.

However, it still appears that Insigne might end up leaving with the club reportedly close to agreeing a move for James Rodriguez.
