Giuseppe Marotta reveals Inter Milan are optimistic about signing Achraf Hakimi and are very close to wrapping up the deal.
Borussia Dortmund’s Achraf Hakimi has very well used the loan spell at the club to cement his status as one of the world’s most lethal attacking full-backs.
The two-year loan spell is fast approaching its end and Hakimi is set to return to his parent club Real Madrid.
Up until last week, it was believed that his arrival at Santiago Bernabeu would give first-choice Dani Carvajal a run for his money. But reports recently emerged suggesting Zinedine Zidane does not have him in his future plans at all.
The Moroccan is heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan. A €40 million transfer, with him signing a five-year contract with the Serie A side, is expected to go through very soon.
Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta admits the rumors are indeed true and that an official announcement can be expected in the coming days.
Marotta told Sky Sports: “I confirm that we are in an advanced negotiation for Hakimi. [Inter sporting director Piero] Ausilio has been very good, but we must now conclude the negotiation.
“Tomorrow will be an important day, I am optimistic. It is a job done from Ausilio in these two months. This is an operation that, with the times that are going, is really very, very important.”
