Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta has responded to Antonio Conte’s outburst at the club’s board, claiming the 51-year-old’s “work has made itself felt”.
Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta has attempted to calm tension around the club by responding to recent comments made by head coach Antonio Conte.
Conte and his Inter team came under intense criticism after failing to maintain their impressive title chase with Juventus. A series of poor results towards the new year saw the Nerrazurri fall way below the Turin outfit.
In the end, Inter did manage second spot but it was still deemed not enough.
Despite all the criticism. Marotta was quick to respond to Conte’s comments and hinted that the club are fully in support of the manager.
The Inter chief told the club’s official website: “It is not easy to analyse objectively. Obviously we have dropped points, but we have learned from these situations too. We have seen an improving team.
“Negative experiences will become great qualities in the future. We must continue on this path, to raise the bar more and more and give satisfaction to the fans. We have a squad that has shown a lot and is up to par. For Conte, his work has made itself felt.”
Marotta also added that he was pleased to see his side make a late charge and finish only one point behind champions Juventus.
“If we look at the statistics, we have finished Serie A in second place, with the best defence, with the greatest number of away victories.
“It means we have done a good job and credit must be given to everyone, to Conte and all of them [the coaching staff].”
“With the great support of the whole team, we finished with the same points as the year of the treble [2009-10], which is obviously a source of great pride.”
